| Frequently Asked Questions: |
| What does this program do for me if I want to
become a missionary? |
| Our goal is to place qualified
missionary families throughout the world. The
Master's Mission (TMM) was started to provide
biblical and technical training to missionary
families to increase their success in the mission
field. Nearly thirty years of experience in training
and sending missionaries has demonstrated that those
already successful in the military have a unique
temperament, ability and potential to become
productive missionaries. Active Duty Missionary (ADM)
is a program started by TMM to identify military
families called by God to missions service after
they have fulfilled a military service obligation,
and to offer them the training and resourcing
necessary to become effective missionaries. |
| Can I do Active Duty Missionary while I'm on
active duty? |
| No. ADM is not a branch of the service. This
program is designed for those who have completed
their term of service and believe God is calling
them to full time missionary service. There is a
great need for long term missionary work to continue
and precious few families able to handle the rigors
of this type of service and even fewer trained to
those the Lord is calling to continue their service
as missionaries. |
| What is the cost of the training? |
| The training costs approximately $12,000 for a
single candidate and $17,600 for a married couple.
This includes tuition, required books and tools,
health insurance, and general living expenses. The
program is approved for use by the Montgomery GI
Bill and Veterans Educational Assistance Program. If
you have GI Bill benefits remaining, you would be
able to use them to offset the cost of the training. |
| How much of the cost will my GI Bill cover? |
| This depends on how much of your benefits you
have used already and other specific details of your
service obligation. Check with your education
counselor or the staff at TMM to get specific
details. Scholarships are also available for
families who require additional funding. TMM is
available to assist those pursuing missionary
service to develop the relationships and support
necessary for both the training and for sustained
long term missionary service. |
| Is the program affiliated with a specific
denomination or mission agency? |
| No. A unique aspect of TMM is our willingness to
work with the local church to train missionaries for
the field. Likewise, we coordinate with mission
agencies in various parts of the world to secure
locations and mission opportunities that meet the
desires God has placed in your heart. Contact us
with specific questions. |
| What are the basic doctrinal beliefs of the
organization? |
| Click here for a short
doctrinal statement. |
| What are the basic requirements to enroll in
the training? |
| The Master's Mission is a non-denominational
program open to all who desire to serve. No
specified number of academic Bible credits is
required for admission, but all candidates must
receive a passing grade on the "Bible Examination"
administered during the application process. They
must also be potentially qualified for leadership in
the church as specified in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1. |
| I have several years before my commitment to
the military is complete. Are there things I can do
to prepare for enrollment now? |
| Yes. Basics include learning another language,
especially one in the area that God may be directing
you. Avail yourself of any training that the
military may have to offer in a broad spectrum of
fields. Also, courses or studies offered through
your church that help you understand the Bible are
helpful. Take classes on small engine repair,
welding, basic program or Scripture memorization (Mindful
of the Truth by Dr. Dan Hayden. Learn to play
chords
on the guitar, auto harp or other stringed
instrument. Share with others about your desire to
become a missionary and ask them to begin praying
for you. Contact the people at TMM for other
valuable ideas. |
| I'm a Chaplain or Pastor. Is there additional
information for me? |
| Yes. As an influencer in the Christian
community, you are a natural "go-to" resource for
people who might be looking for other ways to
service Christ. Our program is not the stereotypical
mission organization as related often in the media.
We are looking for dynamic, energetic, convicted
Christians who are interested in being leaders in
communities where they serve. The more you know
about us, the better you will be able to advise
people that God places in your path. A Powerpoint
presentation has been created for chaplains and
other "influencers" to present the ADM program in a
small group setting and can easily be emailed to
you. We are also looking for additional Churches
to sponsor families who want to become missionaries.
We would love the opportunity to bring you to our
training campus in North Carolina and tell you more
about the program. Contact us for details. |
| Where can I get more information about my
next move? |
| You can fill out this application and email or
send it to us. We will also begin sending you our
newsletter and any information about seminars or
conferences in your area. Let us know if you want to
visit the training site at the Master's Mission in
North Carolina. |
